Shale Coal Petroleum Gas Modelling

Data for shale oil/gas, coal, petroleum, and natural gas are modelled for the present-day (Pliocene model), late-Cretaceous, and Permian small Earth models only. This modelling reflects shale, coal, petroleum, and gas distributions and associations present at the end-Permian supercontinental breakup—shown on the Permian model, prior to the end-Cretaceous extinction event, and where these same commodities are located today—shown on the Pliocene model. The data plotted on each of these small Earth models reflect where the particular natural resource originated from, the inter-relationships of their depositional environments, and the effects of crustal breakup and continental migration.

The list of data below has pre-set links to each of the three displays and the data can be viewed by simply hovering over each yellow button in turn. More details views of selected scenes, plus combinations of associated commodities, can be viewed by selecting the 1, 2, or 6 IMAGES links at the bottom left corner of the webpage and entering the desired scenes or metals from the metal data index.
